Bird Owners which bird do you prefer?

I had budgies growing up and loved the interaction and enjoyed them greatly. Many years later I want another bird. I want a smaller one budgie, canary, finch or maybe a lovebird. Which do you own and why do you love them? A lot of people don't consider birds pets say they are loud, messy and cause sickness. I live in an apartment and have a five year old would be an ideal pet for us.
