Did ghost actually die is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? and if no, then is he actually Gaz?

All night, I've been researching this theory that Ghost is indeed alive and is Gaz. First, I looked back at Gaz's death. Gaz did not die. From what I saw, he was shot in like where the bullet would have just skidded off his head. Is this real or just bad graphics? Now, as for Ghost's death. Infinity Ward wanted you (the player) to forget about the two snipers, Toad and Archer in the 'Loose Ends' level, and if you look closely, no gasoline gets poured on Ghost, and Ghost gets shot in the right side of his chest, meaning no instant death. So, who's not to say that Toad and Archer didn't just come in and save Ghost? Is this all true? And if so, please give me proof so I can know this for sure.
